Precautions for Traveling Abroad

When  traveling in another country, your Water and Power Community Credit Union MasterCard^® may be used at ATM locations wherever you see the MasterCard, Maestro, or Cirrus logos displayed. You must take additional precautions when traveling in countries that are more prone to fraud. Some of these countries have been blocked (see the list of blocked countries below). If you wish to use your credit/debit cards when traveling in these countries, please notify us at 800-300-9728 so that we can remove the block for you.Click here to access the Mastercard Global ATM locator to find ATM machines in countries you are visiting.

As a result of prior fraudulent transactions, WPCCU blocks credit card and debit card signature-based transactions in the following countries: China Cuba Estonia  Hungary Iran Italy Japan Lithuania  Myanmar (Burma) Poland  Romania Russia  South Africa Spain  Sudan Thailand Turkey Ukraine  The United Kingdom

In addition to credit card and debit card signature-based transactions, we are required by the U.S. government to block debit card PIN-based transactions in the following countries: Cuba Iran Myanmar (Burma) Sudan

Please note: The list of blocked countries is subject to change. WPCCU may not be able to remove the blocks for transactions in Cuba, Iran, Myanmar and Sudan, as these counties have financial sanctions set by the U.S. government. 

When traveling, remember to keep your credit cards, traveler's checks and ATM cards in a safe place and keep a minimal amount of cash.
